Rev. Dr. Carl Edward Davis, Senior Pastor

Reverend Dr. Carl Edward Davis, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar, Kensington , Maryland , comes from Brooklyn NY by way of Princeton , New Jersey , where he earned his Master of Divinity degree from the Princeton Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington DC. Dr. Davis is a son of Bethel Baptist Church in Brooklyn , NY , where he served as an Associate Minister under Dr. W. J. Hall, D.D. Prior to First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar, beginning in May 1999, he was an Associate Minister of the First Baptist Church of Princeton, NJ. He is married to the former Ivera Cammon. They have two sons (Carl and Claudel) and two grandchildren (Aniyah and Jayden).

Dr. Davis has served at First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar since January 2001. He has demonstrated a tireless spirit and a reverent—yet aggressive—attitude and approach to serving God's people. The vision that he has brought to this church is based on strategically, systematically, and intentionally combining a biblical foundation with a commitment to excellence in worship. He is dedicated to a pastorate that nurtures the whole person and is committed to outreach on the local, national, and global levels.

Dr. Davis brings to the table dedication and direction to mend fragments of shattered lives, in the name of Jesus Christ, through pastoral presence, spirituality, leadership and discipline. Dr. Davis is an Associate Professor in New Testament Studies in the Department of Bible and Theology at the Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Dr. Davis is a member of the American Baptist Churches of the South, and is the current Senate Representative for ABCOTS Regional Ministers Council and the ABCUSA National Ministers Council Executive Committee,, member of Black Ministers' Conference of Montgomery County, member of The SCLC [Southern Christian Leadership Conference] member of the NAACP of Montgomery County, and member of the Kensington-Chevy Chase Ministerium. Dr. Davis' favorite hymn is Amazing Grace. Dr. Davis once was lost but now is found was blind but now he can see. He has been thro many dangers, toils and snares, it is grace that has brought him safe thus far, and that same grace will lead him home.
